Art photography can wear many shapes.

There is an importance in documenting our planet just from travelling as we do when we travel to new places, but what makes it art?

It’s easy to dismiss landscape photography as art, since we all found ourselves at one time or another standing before a beautiful landscape and just pushing a button.  It may look easy to shoot since it has to do a lot with the location and raw natural beauty of the landscape, but there is far more to it.
There is much room for the photographer interpretation as in Ansel Adams work. That means that what you see in the photograph is a direct reasult of how it looked in the photographers mind, more than it looks in actuall life.

How do they do it?

Well, that’s the art. It has to do a lot with technique. Knowing how to use light, shape, composition. Places we simply drive through without thinking twice about them can look like a masterpiece by God, when being photographed by an artist.  He can make you get lost in the details or get lost in the wide empty space.  He can emphasize textures or feel the dramatic sky pushing down on earth.  No doubt there is a lot of power in the beauty of our earth.

I want to admit that my favorite photographer in this category around DA is ssilence with his style and technique. He is so well known, so I don’t have to say too much for you to know exactly what I mean when I say he leads this category.

Well thought out composition that spreads that beautifull landscape in all it’s beauty,

The amazing layers of mountain with this remarkable light reaching from the side, petting the ground in all it’s splendor.  The tones and small dots and details are something you can gaze at for hours.  The photographer's decision to keep the lonely branch and the side of the mountain in frame, are what makes this a masterpiece.  It’s not just giving prespective and proportions, but it also gives expression, humanization the tree as he is looking at the view, and by that drawing emotion into the scene.
