The Chat Network :: Lesson 1This is an introductory tutorial on topics concerning the Chat Network.
Lesson 1
So, you've created your first chatroom and you're a bit confused on how it all works?  These two lessons will attempt to take some of the mystery out of using and managing your chatroom.
Note that most of the commands mentioned in this article can be done by accessing your Chatroom Settings (a link to this is located in the bottom right of your chat screen).  Most people prefer to use the commands though since not everything can be done by using the Chatroom Settings, and for the most part you can do things faster and easier by using the command.
First Steps
When you first create your chatroom you'll notice that you are put into the "Guests" privclass.  The first thing you should do is to type this command in the text box where you normally type:
/promote username Founders
Where "username" is your deviant username.

The Chat Network :: Lesson 2Lesson 2
After creating your chatroom you probably want to customize and personalize it.
In this lesson we'll we walking through an example of customizing a chatroom and looking at some common strategies in setting up your privclasses and privileges. The hypothetical chatroom I've created is called #Oreos and is a chatroom for everyone who loves eating tasty Oreos!
Remember that in order to modify privileges or privclasses you either need to be in a privclass with the +admin privilege, or you must the original creator of the chatroom.
Renaming Privclasses
As we saw in the last lesson, the default privclasses when you first create a chatroom are: Founders, Operators, Members, Guests, and Banned.
These names don't describe tasty oreos though so let's rename them. The /admin rename privclass OldName to NewName command will change the name of a privclass:
/admin rename pr

Why have I been changed from photoshop n00b to photoshop ninja?
Is it because it was animated?
No manipulation was used and I don't even know how to use photoshop.

Yes, it was probably because of that. The point of the categorization was to separate manipulated and unmanipulated images, not whether you used Photoshop/the GIMP/Paint Shop Pro/ImageReady/Microsoft GIF animator/whatever for the manipulation.

But it wasn't manipulated. I don't know how to photomanipulate.
If it had been made clear in the rules I would have submitted a still shot. I knew there was no chance I could win against people who can turn themselves green or whatever. I took traditional photos and strung them together. If I'd pressed the "record" button on the camera instead would this have made a difference?
