The chat

$Moonbeam13: We're completely stoked to be chatting with Felicia Day, a star in both Hollywood and on the Internet through her popular web series, The Guild.  Thank you Felicia for agreeing to chat with our community! We know you only have a short period of time with us today, so we've preselected some questions from our audience and we'll get started now.
~Lunacat-chan: As an aspiring actor/writer myself, my question is, which of your characters "speaks" to you the most as a writer? As an actor, which character did you most enjoy playing?
Felicia: I have to say that Clara, from the Guild is the easiest for me to write.  I tend not have to rewrite her as much as other characters, which scares me if I ever become a mother.

As an actor, I love playing Codex and I have to say my new role in Eureka later this summer was one of the funnest.  They wrote the role for me because of what I do online, so it's sooo right for me!
~Thatgeek13: What do you consider to be the biggest factor in your success?  Your role on Buffy, playing Penny on DHSAB, or your writing, directing, and acting in The Guild?
Felicia: I definitely say they're all cumulative.  Buffy introduced me to Joss.  The Guild was done separately from everything because I wanted to work more and do more acting in a role that wasn't standard in Hollywood.  And the Guild led to me doing dr Horrible, because I introduced Joss to it, so everything is linked to everything else, like everything in life. :)

I think biggest success is my love of the internet though.  If I didn't love it people wouldn't know my love for them was genuine. :)
~SqueekBot: You're awesome Felicia!  I'd like to say its an honor to meet you.  My question is how was it playing Vi on Buffy an how much fun was it?
Felicia: It was very fun, I loved the last episode the most because I got to do wire work, and fake kill people!
~Linda-Ealain: Hi Felicia, it's a pleasure to "meet" you! I loved Dr. Horrible's Sing-A-Long blog and your character was crucial to Neil Patrick Harris' character's development. I read that when all those involved have the time, there might be a sequel. Do you think this will happen and would it be likely that - as is often the case in Joss Whedon's work - Penny will be brought back in some form (for example through a resurrection device or time machine or a Penny clone made by Dr. Horrible)?
Felicia: I can't predict if I were to be brought back or not.  I know they have had development with a sequel, but Joss is kinda busy making that Avengers thing. :) It's kinda a big movie I think, so not sure what their plans are other than doing something after that other stuff is over!
*PandaKong: How awesome is Season 5 of The Guild going to be? Can we get any spoilers at all?
Felicia: PANDAKONG!  It's going to be super awesome as soon as I get it out of my head onto the page.  NO SPOILERS! :)

I hope to have some really great things for all the characters to do.
`Athos-of-Light: I just spent the past week re-watching all the episodes of the guild. Curious question, out of all the ones you've done, which episode is your favorite? And what moment from the whole series was the most fun to do?
Felicia: Oh wow, good question.  Um, well I have to say episode 5 of season 1 was great to get all the characters in one room acting together.  And I particularly love episode 10 of season 4 because so many characters and action are in it and it's still short.  All good ones.  I also love all the music videos because they were so much more elaborate than the episodes to shoot.  Hope we can make another this year maybe!
*NathalieWinter: Dear Felicia, what's your take on gaming today (ie. graphics, plots, characters), and what do you hope to see in the next few years from the gaming industry?
Felicia: Gaming today is so very intersting because of all the mobile stuff happening, and at the same time, LA Noir-type acting integrated with the gameplay.  So it's like two tiers, casual and more interactive are expanding.

I'm very excited to see where the stuff like LA Noir goes, with the full mocap, I think interactive movies are just around the corner and I can't wait to role-play with more interactivity, with better mocap and voice/body acting!  I also love that there are more indie games being more successful, that makes me happy
=Art-and-Soul: Hello... with such a busy life, what do you do for fun as well how do relax? On a side note, would you ever consider guesting on Doctor Who as Amy Pond's American cousin? Oh and... Codex Rules! The Knights of Good Forever! <3 you as the Scarlet Witch [plz] :D
Felicia: I like your ideas sir, maam, whatever.  I don't get a lot of time for relaxing, it's kinda stressful lately :)  I want to take a month off and just play video games this year if that could be possible.  If I have a few hours, I play WOW or some other game (DA2) or I try to make myself watch some TV, because you should watch TV if you write it.

Dr Who: If anyone asked me I'd die and say yes! Scarlet Witch: YESSSSSSS
*EinStud: When was that ONE moment that it all hit you, it all came together, and you realized... "I made it!"? (Describe it please)  Any acting with Kevin Bacon?
Felicia: I dunno what "made it" means? I mean, i get free video games now, which is nice?  I still don't make a ton of money, but I got in the local paper and my grandma was really proud of me, so that was a nice moment.  And then people who I knew who I used to work with would mention seeing my show without me barraging them with emails, so that was cool. :)

Kevin Bacon:  I would enjoy it, but none planned.
~Alisbet: If you could bring only one thing with you to an abandoned island, what would it be? And describe it for me please.
Felicia: Hmmm...  Ok, wow.  Um, can I have an ipad?  So then I could have videos and comics and books?  And games?  :D

That kinda cheats huh.  Probably food then.
~Vampyu: I personally myself love your series, "The Guild" because I can connect it to my personal experiences with guilds such as the one I'm in, in World of Warcraft. You're my idol <3 What inspired you and your friends to create "The Guild"? It is very clever and creative and my whole guild (well most) enjoy watching your series, we feel close like how you guys portray.
Felicia: I created the Guild because I played a few years of obsessive WOW,  and then when I quit, I missed it, so I decided to write about my experiences.  And the characters aren't based on anyone in particular, just generalizations of people who I played with.

It was my goal to create a cool role for myself, and show the world that Gamers all aren't young guys.  I'm very happy the cast is so good and represents gamers so well.
@Oukan: My question is basically on the show House. What was your experience like being on the set?
Felicia: It was like any other TV episode, very nice people, long hours.  Hugh Laurie drives an indian motorcycle, which is so hot.

I had to have a fake eyeball over my eye, so I had an eyeball handler, moisten my eye every 10 minutes, so that was atypical. :)
`Cooley: I'm familiar with you through The Guild and Dr. Horrible.  My question regards your singing talents on Dr. Horrible. Did you have signing lessons, or is it something you have cultivated all your life?
Felicia: I had singing lessons but had to brush up on it for Dr H, and took lessons after, for Date my Avatar.
@OpalMist: Hi there! First off, Athos-of-Light wanted me to get you to use our llama emoticon by typing :llama:.  Secondly, my question, do you play Minecraft?
Felicia:

WHHEEEEEEE
~Clonest: Hey Felicia!, I didn't know Joss Whedon was doing "The Avengers" Movie!  Do you think you'll get to visit the set and meet all the iconic superheroes from the other movies?  Like the guy who played Iron Man?  Oh and this may seem wierd, but i'm sure where all curious, do you get any stalkers around your neighborhood?
Felicia: I would like to drop by set.  Nothing in my neighborhood, and I'l like to keep it that way!
~Astro999: I am an enormous fan of yours, Felicia. My question relates to your DA 2 webseries, I think called Dragon Age: Redemtion? Well, my question, if you can answer: what are you redeeming in the show?
Felicia: Can't do DA spoilers.  The theme is redemption though ;0

DA will be out later this summer, no exact date yet.  So...you'll find out more this summer.
~CrowWings223: What are your favorite geek conventions to go to both as a guest and a con-goer? I'm currently getting ready for a local anime convention, and then Connecticon in the summer! :)
Felicia: My favorite con has to be DragonCon and I'm going back.  I get a lot of con invites, I can't go to them all.  Definitely planning to do San Diego.  I'm doing Chicago in August and Dragon Con in September.  Maybe more. :)
~DoubleClicked: What advice would you give to a shy gamer girl that's afraid to leave her comfort zone?
Felicia: Make yourself meet people you play games with!
~TracerDee: How long did you have to work before you 'made it?' on Buffy?
Felicia: I acted for 2 years before I got the Buffy Job. My character was supposed to be Asian!
=MazukaGhoul: How do you go about creating web series' like The Guild and Dragon Age: Redemption? What is the process like from writing them to getting them out to the public of the web? I have so much I want to do but I constantly feel like I don't know where to start or go from there so I get stuck a lot.
Felicia: It's very hard to make web series.  You have to research - tubefilter.tv is a good resource.  See how other people do it and write a really personal script.
~Excalibur183: All we've heard of the new Dragon Age web series is that it will involve you playing an Elvin warrior of some sort. Since you probably can't spoil anything, can you tell us how far into development the series is?
Felicia: We already shot DA 2 and we're editing right now!
~Novur: How did you first get into acting, and how did you get into acting, and what do you consider to be your first "real" acting gig?
Felicia: My first "real" acting gig was a Starburst cmmercial that I got cut out of.
~Digi-Shaman-of-Fire: Are there any more Guild songs in the cards?
Felicia: I would love to do another music video, but not have budget or plans yet.
=SockHiddenUnderARock: Will you be uploading art works here? :)
Felicia: I'm not really an artist so I prolly won't be unploading guys
~Dukgrrl: Felicia, you rock my netflix. I have as of yet to find any show that amuses me nearly as much as "The Guild." So here is my question: Do you believe that Codex is developing a fixation on Zaboo based on an actual emotional attachment to him and is attracted to his characteristics, or do you feel it's based more on her near isolation, her limited social group and a desperate need to be loved - therefore attaching herself to what should be an easy source for companionship?
Felicia: I like your theory dukgrrl!
~Hannastenow: Felicia, would you mind marrying a girl?
Felicia: I romance a girl in DA, but do love my b :D
~HealingCrane: As you become more and more involved with the gaming industry (for example, Guild Wars 2) do you ever have the wish to go onto the creative development side of a game? Such as writing or design?
Felicia: I would love to write a game one day, that's a lot of commitment though, years!
~TracerDee: That two years of acting you did, did it pay off over time or did you just plow ahead and hope you got apart?
Felicia: You have to plow ahead if you love it, no matter what. :) BYE GUYS!
