Fog is a great thing. I'm hoping for some this fall in a nearby resevoir.
With a little research I determined the cause of the grain, so I must say you've gotten about as good a shot as you could get under the circumstances.
The color is intriguing.
Oh, yeah. If the original image is on a slide, you want a 4,000 dpi (yeah...really...4,000) scan to get a decent image. The result would be a huge improvement. I've got over 3,000 slides, which would have cost about a buck a pop to have them scanned at a lab, so I went and bought a Nikon Coolscan. I should open a business.
The sea fog is something any photographer wants! I envy you this shot, especially how you can see one behind the other, and just sense the third pillar, gives such an immense feeling of aloneness and depth! love it! If you hadn't seen the other two pillars it would almost have been an abstract painting...
